Mood: waiting for wind
21st June 2006
Windsurfing: Pevensey Bay
Wind Direction: SW
Wind Stength:
Surf / Sea State: bump & jump
Air Temperature: warm
Sea Temperature: warm
Weather: sunny & windy
Max Speed: 22 (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered:

Nice uncrowded session at Pevensey Bay, 5.6m Gaastra Remedy on the Tabou 3S 97 before changing to the 5.0m Gaastra Manic and Tabou Pocket Wave 78 (which I rigged while Gutted went out to further torment himself on my 3S ).

To be honest, I wasn't sure if the Pocket Wave 78 would be too small given tide was going to run with the wind and I'm still giving it the full sized waveboard 'L' plates ... but I did okay, in fact could possibly have changed down again to my 4.5m Manic and stuck with the Pocket, rather than resort to my original back up game plan where I'd just plug the 5.0m into the 3S 97 if it was any sort of struggle due to lower volume board. Got to say, that's the best fun I've had on the Pocket so far, seemed to be starting to get the hang of sailing stuff with next to no fin on less than smooth surfaces, even saw 22 knots on the GPS on the Pocket, across water that was not conducive to blasting speeds

Sea state was bump & jump, with some good ramps to get big air off, but no waves as such to consider riding ... actually took to trying to jump off the backs of the waves coming back in for a change. Perhaps we should have hit Cooden (or Camber perhaps), but when we can chalk up a decent wave board & 5.0m bump & jump session in the sunshine, that'd just be being overly fussy ....

Nice pics Pat, looks like the marketing is working for Shoreham, busy there once again .... just in case anyone asks, Pevensey is not anywhere near as good so maybe don't waste your fuel In truth, it was a little gusty as was cross shore WSW, swinging SW with thermal assist and reverting WSW, and there were some holes in the wind occassionally, though not so many as to worry us.

edit ... Grumpf ... unlucky mate ... glad you made it in unscathed, despite the rather more serious injuries inflicted on your kit

further edit ... Duncan 'Michael Owen' Adam ... at least you managed more than just the first minute ... hope you get back on the water before England's next game

woeful edit ... I had to leave while it was still sunny and windy, and not because I'd busted any kit ... took real discipline that did
